Question: How to get into acting after high school!?
So I've always been kind of interested in acting, but throughout high school I never had time to take an acting class or try out for plays (yearbook/newspaper staff kept me busy)!. Is it too late to try to get involved and take lessons!? I'm 18 and I think it would be a really fun thing to do on the side!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Oh, Film Study Major!! Wonderful!!! Yeah, if you have time, you should definitely Minor (if not double-major) in Theatre!.

I minored in Theatre in College - and believe me, you will get a good foundation in your techniques and theatrical knowledge!. After you completed College, I would also encourage to further your training at a local Acting Studio!. (or 1 -2 Year conservatory) You don't have to do this right after college!. But years after you graduated, when you feel that you need more training, then that's something you can consider!.

While you are in College, participate in School projects!. I know that for Theatrical Programs, you might be required to be involved in at least *One* Theater show!. Since there are film programs at your school, I'm sure there will be plenty of student films that you can audition and participate!.

College is a great place for you to:

1) Learn the Skills
2) Start working, and earn credits for your Actor resume
3) Meet people!. Make friends in the industry!. (Martin Scorses met editor Thelma Schoonmaker in Film School, and she has been editing majority of Martin's film!. 'The Departed' won an Oscar!)

At the same time, look for opportunties outside of the school environment!. Believe me, you will hear about them from your classmates!!!

Good Luck with everything!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Check out the Savannah College of art and design!. They have amazing acting classes!. It is also one of the best art schools in America!. Not to mention the city is awesome and has a great nightlife, and has over 30 beautifull squares throughout the city, just check out there web site!. You would be able to take film and have a minor in acting, plus they have great placement programs!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
