Both were great, but for me it's Bette Davis!. Mainly because of her over the top performances in films like 'Of Human Bondage', and 'What Ever Happened to Baby Jane!?', which also starred Joan as Bette's sister!.!.!.but it was Bette that made that film what it was!. Her performance was stellar! The follow up 'Hush!.!.!. Hush, Sweet Charlotte' was superb as well!.
The 1947 film 'Possessed' was to be for Bette also, but as she was pregnant, the role was given to Joan, who played the part brilliantly!.

We mustn't forget Katherine Hepburn, Olivia de Havilland!.!.!.
and the Canadian actress Fay Wray!.!.!.who could forget 'King Kong'!?
