Question: General questions about acting career!?
After many thoughts and many emails to about 30 or 40 agents i decided to try my luck here!.

I have been around looking for information to jump-start my acting career!. Now that I got college out of the way with a Degree in design, i wanted to pursue my dreams and go into the film industry!.

However, with the internet as of today is really hard to believe people out there who are not going to scam you from those who truly are out there to help people!.

I have been to the SAG website many times (where i got the number and emails of the agents to contact) However, I still haven't heard anything!. I guess is either they just put it aside or they are terribly busy!.

But anyways, here are my questions:
what should be my first steps!?
How does an Agent reviews candidates!?
Where can I find trustworthy schools that won't just take my money and give me a poor education!?
Do I really need acting classes!?
Are there any other classes or anything I should consider about to make myself stand out more among other fellow actors!?
What type of information can you provide me that will benefit me on my journey towards this career field!?
Should I consider moving to California(to work on Feature Films among others)!?
Having an Agent outside of California, can still get me in Feature Films from companies in California!?
How do Audition work (for feature films, tv, etc) !?

If you have more information I would greatly appreciate it!.

Thank you all for your time!.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
1!. Your first steps should be to get training and experience
2!. Agents are looking for different things depending on their agency, and when you submit to them!. Your resume is always and important factor!. The more prestigious your credits are the more likely an agent will be to sign you
3!. I don't know where you live but a lot of theatres have education programs!. If you're willing to spend the money and time to go to a conservatory I would say that's the way to go if you want to have a serious career in acting!. Let me know where you live/where you would want to live and I can give you some info on schools!.
4!. Yes you really need acting classes!. They'll help you make contacts and hone your skills as well as help you to be more professional!.
5!. What will make you stand out is confidence and preparedness!. Never go to an audition unprepared!. It will make you look like you're not serious and they can't depend on you!. also, talent doesn't hurt either!.
6!. Make good choices not only when it comes to the business but in life in general!.
7!. If you want to work in film/tv I would definitely consider moving to CA
8!. You're less likely to be considered than those already living in the area!.
9!. Usually involves cold readings!. I could go into more detail, but this is something you'll learn in classes!.

you need an acting license! It would probably be better if you had acting classes
