Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
they utilize their relationships with Casting Agents to get you into a casting that otherwise you would never even be seen for!. They negotiate the terms of your contract so that you get the best pay, best amenities, best treatment, best titlecard position, etc!.
They can utilize relationships with studio heads, producers, directors, to get you in on a project, or even create a project around you if your status merits such!.!.!.
They also have to hold your hand when casting is slow and listen to actors complain, They have to boost your confidence so that you don't have a sh*tty audition!. They have to find a way to nicely, but constructively tell you that you had a sh*tty audition!. And unless you're booking jobs, they are doing all that for free on speculation that they believe you will make money eventually!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Great answer above!. Just wanted to add that agents are for actors who already have training and experience, not for those just starting out!. It's all about the money and you have to be able to show that you're castable and will actually be able to make some money - you do that by showing a solid resume where you HAVE been cast in lead and principal roles!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Agents are good sale man meant to sell you the product!. Great agents have repeat client ell and as sale man they will pitch their new product!.
It is still you that has to nail the auditions and book!.

Thus making the product look like a must need, bringing you repeat client ell!. Supply and demand then come into play and people will then spend more to have you
