I know I'm young but I want to learn everything there is to becoming an actor on Broadway!. Here are my questions!.!.!.!.

~ When it comes to becoming a professional actor, don't you have to join a group!? If so, what do you have to do!?

~ What are some possible back up jobs for someone who only wants to do things associated with the arts!?

~ What are some of the best cities to consider a career in other than New York or London!?

~ What are the best colleges to go to for musical theatre!?

~ What are the best ways to develop your singing voice at a young age (vocal excercises, etc!.)!?

I assuming you meant Unions!. There are Unions for TV/Film, Radio/Industrial/Hosting, Theatrical Productions!.!.!.etc!. Since you mentioned Broadway - the Union that you would want to join is AEA (Actors' Equity Association) http://www!.actorsequity!.org

You mean performing arts, and still maintain your career in the Theatre Industry, right!? You can either work in on the production side as Crew (stage manager, set design, etc), a Talent or Casting Agent's Intern/Assistant, Theatre House Ushers or administration, and Teacher's Assistant, etc!.

For strictly Theatre!.!.!. Chicago!.
There are *some* Theatrical Productions in LA - but it's the land for Film and TV mostly!.

~ What are the best colleges to go to for musical theatre!?

I'm in New York!.!. so there are two NY Schools I'd recommend:

The Julliard School
American Musical & Dramatic Academy

Attending Singing lessons and learn the proper technique for breathing and producing sounds!. A strong proper (technical) foundation will benefit you in the long term!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

the acting groups you refer to are guilds!.!.!. google Screen Actors Guild or SAG!.!.!.

waitering or bartending are best due to their flexible schedules and conducive to the actor persona, pursuit of voiceover work and commercial work is also good income while trying to get into acting!.!.!. good in NYC and Hollywood

Chicago is awesome for stage!.!.!. NYC and London, yes, Hollywood is not a good place for stage actors, but can be lucrative for commercials and film/tvWww@QuestionHome@Com

1!. If by groups you're referring to the unions, yes!. The union for stage actors is the AEA (actors equity association) and the one for film is SAG (screen actors guild)!. There are a few different ways to join each of these unions but all of that information is explained on their websites!. Google it!.

2!. You can work in a theatre without being an actor!. One rather famous actor I know worked painting the walls at a nearby theatre before he started getting work!. Bartending and waiting tables are also cliche' actor's jobs because of the flexibility of the work schedule; temping as well!.

3!. New York and London are great cities for starting a career in theatre!. Hollywood can be good too if you're willing to supplement your income with film/tv jobs!. Ashland, though a small city, is also a great area for theatre!. It's where the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (THE place to see shakespeare in the USA IMHO) is held!. There are also great theatres around the US in many of the big cities!.

4!. I'm not incredibly familiar with MT schools!. Though if you're interested in MT as a career I would suggest you stay in NYC when you get out of school!. MT isn't quite as popular on the west coast unless it's a broadway tour!.

5!. For developing your voice I suggest a voice coach!. Without any experience you can end up developing bad habits without being coached in your exercises!.

Whatever your journey is I wish you luck! Www@QuestionHome@Com
