He was pretty much thrown under a bus because of his affair with Abigail, and because of that, even after he confessed to it, he was still hanged because he cared too much about his dignity--despite the wife and the child on the way, but I won't go there!. also-- think of Giles!. How did he die!? He was squished to death and he would never confess to anything he didn't do, even if everyone always blamed everything on him, anyway!. And his last words!? "More weight!." There's a fighter!. And then there's my favorite, Tituba!. This whole thing basically starts off with her!. She's basically trying to be a good slave and care for Betty when she's sick and they still think she's the Devil's Loving Lover or some crap like that, so they still put her in prison/jail to be hanged!. I believe the word you're looking for is "hardships", not "crucibles"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com well my class just got done reading the play and I know John Proctor went through alot of crucibles (a severe test) like when he had an affair with abigail, and when abigail and him are alone in the room together and he lies to his wife about it, but later tells her the truth!. elizabeth, john proctors wife, went through some when she dem=nied her husbands affair adn made things worse for him in jail, and when she forgives him for his affair giles corey has crucibles when he is pressed to death, he keeps his mouth shut, until he finally passes away!. rev!. Hale when he tries to get the accused to confess Mary warren, b/c she is one of the accused, and when she bring the poppet back to the house for elizabeth with the needle still in the dolss stomach, and also when she agrees to tell the court the truth she fails Dansforth when he baggers ppl into lying about being witches and when he listens to lies and not the respected ppl of the townWww@QuestionHome@Com If you know the definition of crucible (a container in which a substance is tested and/or changed), just read the play!.
