Question: I want to be a actress but every time I tell my parents they just laugh at me!?!!?

I want to be a actress im 13 and i have dance experience hiphop and demi pointe tap!. I have lots of other talents to lol i've done school plays and skits but not anything big!. Help!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

If your parents supported you and pay for your dance classes, I don't see why they couldn't support you in reaching out to the acting industry!. (if you can both Acting and Dance, that'd be wonderful!. Heck, if you can sing, then you will be come a true Triple-Threat!!)

You can first see if there are any acting classes offered at your school!. (Or join the Drama Club) The most important thing is to be involved!. I assume since you've already done School Plays, you have been involved within the school environment!. Then what you can do is to find Theater Groups and auditions Outside of the school!. Usually the world of mouths will give you the leads!. Ask your friends in Drama Club or cast members at your play - see if they know any classes outside of the school!.!.!. or Theater company for Young Adults!.

I remember when I was in my acting class, people always talk about agents, auditions, and other classes!.!.!.!.

At the end of the day, you can show it to your parents and let them see that you have competed with many other young actors and landed the roles!. There's a difference between an Actor Wanna-Be and someone who actually have Talents!. If you kept on landing roles in School or Non-School projects, that means there's a market out there for you!.

When you start to ask your parents to take you to (out of school) auditions, they will know that you are serious about it!. You need to let them know that you are, and will be committed in this career!.

I don't think your parents are trying to be mean, they just understand that it is a difficult career to make a living in!. If you live in/near LA or New York, it might be possible for you to do professional acting while you are still in school!. Otherwise, I think you should keep up with your dance and school plays!. When you get to college, you can study theater/film/acting if it's still what you want to do!. Even if you don't major in it, you can still take classes, audition for shows, or minor in it if that's an option!.

Tell them that you are serious!. Sit down and tell them this is something you really want and would like to shoot for!. Maybe you could take up drama in high school and try making a few movies with your friends to see how you like it!.

Keep a backup plan!. Choose a secondary career just for money purposes so that your parents see you are responsible but you have a dream!.

I wanted to be an actress at 13, a zoologist at 15, a singer at 17, a director at 18, and eventually settled on writing and screenwriting though I still have a day job!.

Never give up on your dreams!. If every wannabe actress gave up we wouldn't have any actresses in Hollywood!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Keep your goal in mind and work hard to acheive it!. Do well in your studies so you have a back up plan incase acting doesn't work out!. As long as you know that success in the performing arts is a long shot, do what you want!.

Would you want to be an actress if that meant you were barely scraping by doing the occasional off-Broadway play in New York, would you want to do it!?
