Cosette in "Les Miserables"?

Question: Cosette in "Les Miserables"!?

Ok in the spring we are doing the student production of "Les Mis" and I'm a freshman!. I'm in a youth opera group in NYC and I'm a really good singer (i'm not trying to have an ego or anything but i'm sorry it's kinda true!.) I don't see alot of other girls who can have a good classical voice to play Cosette!. I'm good enough to get the role, but i'm a freshman!. what do you think!?!?!?!?!?!?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Unlike professional productions, casting in high school productions isn't always about casting the most talented person!. Even if you have an astounding voice, casting a freshman in a leading role could lead to having a lot of aggravated upperclassmen and a high school theater program relies on making sure all the kids are all having fun!. (Imagine how you would feel if it was your senior year, you'd been in every show at this school since you showed up, and some freshman with opera training waltzed in and snatched up a huge role and you ended up stuck in the chorus!.) Your chances might not be so bad with Les Mis, since it's a big ensemble show and thus there are plenty of roles to go around, but I wouldn't get my hopes up too much unless you showed up at the audition and it was an obvious shutout!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
