open calls can be reallllllly good for people that dont have agents but have a little bit of talent!. usually they are for a part in a tv show or something!.PBS is famous for their open call castings for their kids shows and its a great way to get a job!. basically at an open call you go in with a probably like 10 other people (depending on how many people show up) at a time and they have a group of people there watching you and usually they are from teh company holding the auditions!. they just want to be there because they will be making the decision on wether or not they like you for the part!. there will be a camera but dont get intimidated by that!. all it does is record what you say so they can look back at it later and see if they want to call you back for another audition (aka a callback) basically they just ask you some simple questions like "say your name your age and what you like to do in your free time" and they can ask you questions or do activities depending on what you are trying out for!. so i say go for it, it is a great expirience even if u dont get even one callback!.

Some open casting calls ask for a monologue or give you something to read, so look at the info carefully so you'll be well prepared!. Others will just ask you to talk for a short amount of time!. If they just ask you to talk I highly recommend telling a story or something that happened to you (embarrassing experience or a misunderstanding or something similar) because they are looking for personality and outgoing attitudes!. Don't be shy with them no matter what and go up there confident and knowing you will succeed!. That'll up your chances a hundredfold!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you audtion for something, you don't need to be an actor!. They usually do it for bigger roles, but its rather unprofessional!.
And dont get tricked sometimes they ask you for money if they do they arent real!.
