Shakespeare doesn't write easy parts!. But it does come down to how much you want to put in to the show!. The more lines and stage time the more work it'll take!. Your best bet will be to decide how much work you are willing to put in to the show, give your all at auditions and let the director place you!.

Jessica!.!.!.!.the role you pursue should be based on your amount of energy you want to put into the part!. For example, if you are a smart and studious person, but you are not swamped with other activities- go for the role of Juliet!. If, however, you are swamped with other things, or if you know that you have a hard time remembering a plethora of lines, opt for a smaller part!. My experience with stage plays is that it increases the amount of creativity and imagination a person becomes involved in-personally!. Additionally, the lines you learn will stay with you for a lifetime, as well as holding open other doors of communication with "like minded" people!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your body type and voice type might decide for you!. But to be honest, I've always thought the nurse (Juliet's nurse) was a very funny, underrated part!. I think comedy is more fun than drama, personally!.

FYI, the other answers have some great advice!. I am playing Eva Peron in Evita now, a part I said yes to with no particular thought, because I am used to playing more principal parts (based on age, credits, voice type, dance ability, etc!.), and mostly because I wanted this part in college and didn't get it!. So when it was offered to me, I jumped at it, and although I will be happy when we open, I must say it is THE most demanding, exhausting part I've done outside of Aldonza in La Mancha, and I wouldn't exactly call it enjoyable!. Not so far, anyway!.

I have always enjoyed smaller, featured roles, especially comic ones!. Take a look at the nurse and see if you don't find her to be pretty funny!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Try out for both, if you can!. If the director wants to see you read for something else, s/he'll tell you!. Ultimately, the director will choose your part!. If you are cast, take whatever they give you!. If you are not, work backstage!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

None of it will be easy but if you are new to acting I suggest trying out for one of the supporting roles as you are unlikely to win the role of Juliet!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
