Question: What should I do to help me memorize this monologue!?
I have to memorize this monologue for my British LIterature class, and would like to know:

What is the best way for me to memorize this!? I have four weeks!.

Twelfth Night

Orsino:
If music be the food of love, play on;
Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting,
The appetite may sicken, and so die!.
That strain again! It had a dying fall;
O it came o'er my ear like the sweet sound
That breathes upon a bank of violets,
Stealing and giving odour!. Enough! No more;
'Tis not so sweet as it was before!.
O spirit of love! How quick and fresh art thou,
That, notwithstanding thy capacity
Receiveth as the sea, nought enters there,
Of what validity and pitch soe'er,
But falls into abatement and low price
Even in a minute!. So full of shapes is fancy
That it alone is high fantastical!.

Oh, and what is soe'er!? And surfeiting!?

So, advice!? Tips!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
UNDERSTAND IT! Read it carefully several times and pick apart each idea so that you understand what Orsino is talking about!. There are breaks in the monologue that can be your signposts!. That strain again! Enough! O spirit of love! Break it down sentence by sentence (not line for line, or else your interpretation and performance of the piece will be disjointed and lacking depth!.)

Soe'er is soever, meaning of any kind or at all!.
Surfeit is a great abundance!. Surfeiting is (in this example) like being full-up or reaching fullness!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well lets see, you have 4 weeks!. there are!.!.!.!.like 15 lines!.!.!.!.what i would do is memorize 4 lines every week!. and then you'll have 3 lines for the last week!. Practice the first four lines the first week up to an hour minimum a day!. by the end of the week, you should be able to knwo it!. second week, start the next four, same thing
then by the end of the second week, you should know the first 8
and so on and so forthWww@QuestionHome@Com

what i would do is either memorise it in sections ot singit as a song or read it to a tape recorder and play it back!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

write it over and over again, or get a recorder and play it over and over it (i heard it works better when you sleep) and try to say it along with it!Www@QuestionHome@Com
