Question: Question about acting job!.!.!.!?
I am an Australian guy 22 yrs!. I am an actor!. If I got signed up with a casting agent in the USA!.!.!. Does that mean they can sign a petition for me to get permanent residency over there to e able to work!?

How does that work

People can go to the US with job offers and become permanent residents, but how does it work for actors!? Or what's the best way to get over there and work!.

And yes!.!.!.before people answer with: 'you have to be really talented to be signed up' and 'there are enough actors here' I know these things!. (sorry for sounding bitter)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Casting directors or casting agents as you may call them have nothing to do with representing actors!. Agencies rarely sponsor immigrants for work permit or citizenship unless that person is already a bankable star!. By the same token agencies are not going to take on an actor not already living in the U!.S!. especially if you're not legal!. Talent or lack thereof has nothing to do with it!.

All the foreign born actors I know, most from the U!.K!. and a few from Canada have had to come over the old fashioned way and spend a lot of money getting their residency!. The first few years they enter and exit the country frequently to keep their visas current while they work with lawyers who specialize in immigration!.

So best bet is to google a few law firms in the Los Angeles area who specialize in immigration law as they will be more familiar with foreign actors!.

Hope this helps and good luck!.

Agencies are not likely to both take on someone new *and* sponsor them!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
