Question: How do you make yourself feel better when you've failed!?
I auditioned for my school play!. I hit my monologue alright, but afterwards he split us all up into pairs!. We had to take 3 lines from each of our monologues and put them together to make a conversation!. It didn't have to MAKE SENSE, it just had to SOUND right!. I totally failed it!.
Not only did he have to come over and be like "You guys are really overthinking this" to my partner and I when we were trying to make it MAKE SENSE, but!.!.!. well, I was supposed to be a pregnant lady!. And he was my friend, trying to counsel me!. But I went COMPLETELY braindead when I went up there!. I was like a robot!. I didn't put in nearly enough emotion!. I did HORRIBLE!.
The results (for callbacks) were supposed to be posted 4 minutes ago - I KNOW I didn't get in, but seeing my name not on the list will probably make me cry!. I'm too chicken to check them!. I KNOW I could have done so much better if I had just focused!. Argh!.!.!. what do I DOOO!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Don't worry about it so much!. I know it's sometimes hard to bounce back after you screw something up, but you can do it!. Just remind yourself that nobody's perfect and even the most successul people in the world have had their share of failures or embarrassments!. It's through failures that we learn and grow, so just chalk it up to a learning experience and move on, knowing that you'll do better next time!. When I was in college, I was in a play and during a time when I was the only actor on stage, delivering a lengthy monologue, I completely froze up and couldn't remember anything! I panicked and I actually said OUT LOUD, in front of the entire audience, "Oh my God, I forgot my lines!" The whole audience broke into laughter, which just made me feel worse!. I just made up some lines to get off the stage quickly and the play then continued!. I thought I would die of embarrassment and I cried backstage afterwards!. But I went on to get a degree in theater arts and managed to have some very successful performances after that disaster!. So you see, it is possible to bounce back after a failure, as long as you figure out what went wrong and why it went wrong so that you won't make the same mistakes again!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Great question!. I remember doing this musical called leader of the pack and i actually had to sing that song as well!. But it was super hard because it wasn't a very pretty song [broadway version] and i remember cracking every night!. To make matters worse my ex boyfriend watched every night!. And the thing that made me better was knowing that i CAN do better!. So i kept trying and now i can sing everything from low jazz to latin opera!. And i mean HIGH opera!. You just have to keep trying!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

CHECK IF YOU GO INTO CALLBACKS! and plus your mistakes teach you for the future so suck it up and keep working hard! it's not like you now have to join lots of theatres, just practice at home or look for a drama class at school!. even join the tech and watch them!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Go for a long run!. Try not to twist an ankle !. If you make it back intact, you are no longer a failure!. Then check the list!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Just keep auditioning, any chance you get!. The thing I love about theatre, is that any show you do, any audition you go to, you learn something from, and you get better!.

Auditions are daunting for any actor, and the only thing that can make you more comfortable is experience!. And even so, it still sucks when you don't get that part you wanted!.

also remember, when you think you're perfect for the part, they may be looking for something else completely!. Someone taller, shorter, thinner, fatter, darker hair, lighter hair, whatever!. You can never tell exactly what they want!. Just do your best, that's all that can be done!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
