Question: I have a question about being nervous on stage!?
Everytime I go to theatre class, I shake!.
There are only about 13 people in this class!.
I get really nervous and it efects how I speak and do things!.

This is probably because before I went to this school I spent a great deal of time by myself!.
A ridiculously large amount of time!.

So how do I stop being nervous!?
Should I take anxiety pills, would they help!?

Calmness comes in doing and doing!. The more you do the better you will be!.

The best way to open up that shell is to talk to one new person a day, if you feel the need talk to two a day!. Walk with you head up and smile at people as they past!. In class be the first to volunteer, and practice all the time!.

When you get a little better sit with someone new at lunch, believe if you do this everyday the world is going to open up for you!. Then went it comes time to perform, Your going be a gem

Well, acting class is sure to get rid of your - please pardon me - "antisocial" tendencies!. Depending on what grade/level you're in, your teacher will try to melt away everyone's barriers as soon as possible and to the best of their abilities!. Only when you can remove your sheild can you truly open up and access your real potential!.

As for the nervousness, you probably shouldn't take anxiety pills unless it's seriously affecting your life!. Just remember that everyone is in the same boat as you!. Most of them are probably also very nervous!. But instead of letting those nerves hinder you, let them help you!. Use the extra energy and put it into your character, your act, your presence!. That's what adrenaline is for: fight or flight!. You need to fight!.

I have the same problem as you, although it's gotten better over the years!. I was lucky, though, because I learned early on how to hanress my nervous energy!. Before a final performance or a big audition, I still shake!. I still turn red!. My voice still wavers!. But it doesn't bug me because I can use all of those and push them away by using my extra energy for good!. As for crowds, I personally believe that a smaller crowd is worse than a big one, and you're kinda stuck there (and try as I might, picturing them all in their underwear only distracts me and doesn't help at all - I don't recommend it)!. Again, remember that they're probably nervous too!.

Good luck! Keep holding on and break a leg!Www@QuestionHome@Com
