Position:Home>Theater & Acting> I don't know what to do about this audition for a play?

Question: I don't know what to do about this audition for a play!?
My mom wants me to try out for our local play;;
The Christmas Carol!.
I want to but I'm nervous I won't make it!.
I was an understudding in our schools play and only 50 kids got into the play, so I guess I'm good!.
The only thing about The Christmas Carol is they want you to read from the script on the spot!. You don't get to take the script home and study it for auditions!.
So should I try it!?
and what should I do to practice for the auditionsWww@QuestionHome@Com

It is nice you want to please your mom!.

Try getting the script for this play or any play and have your mom pick a passage at random and get in front of her and read it, ask for her feedback!.

Watch the movie and just go to the audition and do the very best you can!.

She is pushing you just to try and see if you like it!.

Good luck with it and I hope you get the part!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you don't make it, at least you put yourself out there and tried!. Even professionals don't get every part they audition for!. Get the book, "The Christmas Carol", from the library if you don't have it!. Review it and get a feel for the characters!. Then, just go and read from the script!. Relax and do some deep breathing when you go to the audition!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Do it only if you LIKE the theatre if you don't don't bother!. Wheater or not you're good!. If you do, just watch the movie!. It's usually somewhat like the book and it will give you a good idea about the plotline, practice how you think whatever charcter SHOULD be like!.In front of a mirror!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You should definetly try it!. The way you become stronger as an actor is to try everything even if you think your not going to get a part!. The way you should prepare for it is to look at youtube videos of the chrismas carol!. Or maybe find a monologue from it or a script!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

definately go for it!. i suggest you watch the film first and look at the main chrahcters to get a feel for their personality!. then when you get the script youll have a good idea how to portray them when speaking!.

also speak slowly!. if ur nervous and ruch the words!.!.it wont be good!.

walk in there thinking you have it in the bag and that confidence will shine throught!.

best of luck!!x xWww@QuestionHome@Com
