Question: Looking for an audition song for a musical - preferably a fun song!?
I'm auditioning for Once Upon a Mattress, and I am looking for a fun audition song!. My ideal role would be princess Winifred (for those who aren't familiar with this musical, Winifred is an outspoken and fun character) and although that is unlikely, I would love to find an audition song that matches her personality!. All that the song requires is that it is from a musical!.
I am an alto to a mezzo soprano!. I don't have the most wonderful voice but I work with what I have!.

Thank you!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I agree with the poster who said Once on This Island and Last Five Years!.

IF you go with Last Five Years, I'd go with "Summer in Ohio"

Some Lyrics:
I could have a mansion on a hill,
I could lease a villa in Seville,
But it wouldn't be as nice as a summer in Ohio,
where I'm sharing a room with a former stripper and her snake,

Contrary to earlier answers, don't sing "Popular" (extraordinarily overdone as an audition song) or anything from The Last Five Years, as Jason Robert Brown's musicals are very different from anything else!. Given the style of Once Upon a Mattress, have a look at something maybe from Guys and Dolls (Miss Adelaide's songs are good fun), How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, possibly one of Reno's songs from Anything Goes or maybe a Jerry Herman song - something from Hello Dolly perhaps!. try a song from The Last 5 years, Working, Merrily We Roll Along, ONce on this island!.!.

I would say go with Last 5 years or Once on this island!.!.they both have great songs!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Popular from Wicked would be fun!. It doesn't go too high, either!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
