Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Tips for a singing audition?? please help?Question: Tips for a singing audition!?!? please help!? i'm auditioning for a local threatre and they are doing peter pan!. i'm a good actress but singing!.!.!.not so great!. but luckily, i've been learning how to use my diaphram to sing so i am improving alot! but i still need some tips!. i wanna stand out, be heard and get a good part!! (i'm 13 by the way) any helpful tips from experienced people!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: just remember to breathe from your diaphram, and to take breaths in the right spot!. don't get too nervous!. ACT while you're singing!. they're not going to think you have the ability to do both, let alone at the same time, if you don't show them!. the trick i always use is to go in there & pretend like i already have the part & i'm just performing!. when you attach "audition" to the performance, your mind gets freaked out & that's when you get nervous and make silly mistakes!. don't think of it as an audition!. think of it as you're ging to show them why they're GOING to cast you!. don't get too disappointed if you don't get the part you want, or if you don't get cast at all!. community theatre's can be more competitive than you think, but it's always great to go out there & audition, because you'll gain experience which will help you the more you audition!. if you have to prepare a song, be sure to mark clearly where the pianist should start and end!. put in the extra effort and put the music in a 1/2 inch binder, that way it's neat & easier to flip the page if needed!. some people say don't look at the director or whoever else is in there watching your audition, and some say do look at the people (just don't stare!. kind of act like you're singing TO them) as a newcomer though, just look at the wall behind them & sing to it like it's your audience!. sometimes they'll actually have you sing infront of a camera, and if that's the case, look at the camera!. break a leg!Www@QuestionHome@Com Dont go in empty handed have some sheet music that yyou have been working on!. If you dont they will have you sing happy B day!. Singing is having the abilty to hear yourself sing!. Listen to yourself!. When your off you can hear it an make adjustments!.
