Here is an excellent one, Portia from Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice!." The premise is this: Suitors who want to marry her must choose from three chests: gold, silver, or lead, one of which holds her photo and if the suitor chooses the right chest, he gets to marry her!. So far, she has already seen two suitors she doesn't like (both chose wrong), but now she's confronted with a man she is smitten with!. If he chooses wrong, she will never see him again!. So she's asking him to delay, so that she can spend as much time around him as possible!. And of course, she's afraid he will lose!. She really WANTS to tell him the right chest to pick, but is bound by duty not to!. The monologue goes such:

"I pray you, tarry: pause a day or two
Before you hazard; for, in choosing wrong,
I lose your company: therefore forbear awhile!.
There's something tells me, but it is not love,
I would not lose you; and you know yourself,
Hate counsels not in such a quality!.
But lest you should not understand me well,--
And yet a maiden hath no tongue but thought,--
I would detain you here some month or two
Before you venture for me!. I could teach you
How to choose right, but I am then forsworn;
So will I never be: so may you miss me;
But if you do, you'll make me wish a sin,
That I had been forsworn!. Beshrew your eyes,
They have o'erlook'd me and divided me;
One half of me is yours, the other half yours,
Mine own, I would say; but if mine, then yours,
And so all yours!. O, these naughty times
Put bars between the owners and their rights!
And so, though yours, not yours!. Prove it so,
Let fortune go to hell for it, not I!.
I speak too long; but 'tis to peize the time,
To eke it and to draw it out in length,

"let me tell you something about janice ian!. we were best friends in high school!. i no!.!.!. i dont even!.!.!.!.!.!.whatever!. so in the 8th grade, i starded going out with my new boyfriend, kyle, totally georgous, but then he moved to indiana, and janice was like, wierdly jealous of him, cause if i would like blow her off to hang out with kyle shed be like why didnt you call me back and id be like why are you so obsessed with me!?"

"so for my birthday party, which was an all girls pool party, i was like, sorry janice, i cant invite you, because!.!.!.!.!.!.i think ur a lesbian!.!.!.!.i mean i couldnt have a lesbian at my party there would be girls there in there swimsuits right she was a lesbian!. so her mom called my mom and my mom called her mom and they were yelling at eachother, so retarded, and then she dropped out of school because nobody talked to her, and when she came back, all her hair was cut off!. so!. guess now shes on crack!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Oh my god, what was that girl above me thinking!? You can't do a monologue from Mean Girls!. Well even if you can!.!.!.if you did it and were trying out for my show, I wouldn't cast you!. Doesn't matter if you're 11 or 20!.
