First, find out if they want you to audition with a selection from the show itself, or if you can pick anything you want!. Find out how long it should be, and STICK to that!.

Practice, practice, practice! Practice for your friends, family, co-workers, as many audiences as you can!. Try to get past any nerves that make you laugh, fidget, stutter, etc!. Speak slowly, make sure you're speaking clearly and loud enough to be heard!. Listen to your voice, make it sound natural, make sure your voice rises and falls in the right places!. You want to sound like you're talking, not reading!.

Try to get to the point where you really feel the words that you're reciting, and you can BE the character that you're portraying!. Practice until you can recite your lines anywhere, anytime, and get right into the part without smiling, laughing, or feeling embarrassed!. November gives you a long time to practice, so get to it!

Research the show!. Get a copy of the cast album so your familiar with the music, since if you're called back, you'll be asked to sing something from the show!.
As for your audition, it was composed by Stephen Schwartz, so you may want to consider something from another Stephen Schwartz show: Children of Eden, Godspell, The Baker's Wife or Working would all be good!. No Wicked!! Pick the best 32 bars and be sure to mark it clearly for the accomapanist!.

Just go and have fun! Do your best, but if it's your first time back in awhile, don't put too much stock in it!.

Good luck!

Make sure you know the play and the characters you might play as well as possible!. Find someone who has auditioned for that theatre company and director and ask how they run auditions!. It doesn't hurt if you go by and ask if the theatre could use some help!. Getting to know the people will make you more comfortable and give you a better chance!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Co-operate!. co-operate, co-operate!. Do EXACTLY what they ask you to do!. Don't be hyper or obnoxious, onstage or off!.
