Question: How much work is it actually!?
So I am going out for my first real play ever at the end of the month!. Now I have been doing drama class in grades 7 - 11 (except for 9) and I was wondering how much work actually goes into putting on a show!. We are doing beauty and the beast (I go to a catholic school :( ) anyway I want to know what the rehearsal schedules are usually like and all that jazz :P also I am hoping to get an actual role so it would look good on my resume and I want the cool microphones :PWww@QuestionHome@Com

the schedule is pretty tight so most likely everyday from like 2-3hrs!. maybe even Saturdays

Being in a catholic school doesn't change the acting process

can you sing dance have experience!? if so FLAUNT it!.

if you want good resume experience i suggest community theater, regional theater, or dinner theaters!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Since it's a school musical, there's pretty much no telling what the rehearsals will be like; some schools rehearse forever for a show, some slap one together with very little preparation!. I suggest asking the director what the rehearsal schedule will be like!.

As for how much actual work goes into it, remember that high school theater isn't exactly broadway; most high school directors are thrilled if you just show up on time and have your lines memorized!. If you want to go above and beyond, ask your director if you can help out with anything like building sets or whatever!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It really depends upon the nature and length of the piece and the standard of the guiding lights - Director etc!., as to how much hard graft is involved!.

But Oh! That applause - if it is forthcoming!. Worth every second of hard graft!. And the feeling of satisfaction if you do your job well - whatever it is!.

I have loved every minute of the whole thing for years and years!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

a lot of work goes into a production, help in every way you can!. Ask the director about the rehearsal schedule!. musicals ususally rehearse about 6 weeks!.What cool mikes!? Most school musicals do not use mikes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
