Question: Is being a character actor a bad thing!?
I'm majoring in theatre and I keep getting told that my characters are really strong!. But I have a hard time trying to portray characters who aren't as, how should I say, over the top or dramatic!. I'm trying to work on it, but is that a bad thing!? I don't want to seem like I'm completely over the top when I'm on stage or anything!. Is being a character actor a bad thing!? Do you think it means you're too over the top and not that realistic!? I want to be able to play evevrything!. Do any of you have any tips on how to be able to better portray a more realistic character!? One that's not as dramatic!? I'm a perfectionist and I want everything I do to be just perfect!. I can't help it, I'm just a naturally dramatic person whose drawn to dramatic peeps, lol!. Can anyone give me a list of character actors that have been in movies!?

Thanks!Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, it's not a bad thing!. I can't think of a single actor who can play every kind of role, or at least play every kind of role well!. Everyone has a different strength, and you've found yours!. Enjoy it! And use it to your advantage!. No amount of training is going to make you perfect or change what comes naturally to you!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
