Question: I want to get into acting but don't have to support of my family!?
I'm 13!. I've never acted professionally before, or in a school play, but I act like different people around my friends (when we are just messing around) and most of the time I can get them to believe it!. My friend talks to this kid and when I talked to him I acted like I was this total girly girl and he believed me until I told him 20 min later!.
When I told my mom that I wanted to get into acting, she didn't really think much of it!. She told me to do a play, so I researched information about the community theatre near us!. I am kind of embarrassed to tell my mom what I found and ask her to take me to get head shots!. What should I do!?
also, after I have acted in a few plays in the theater, would it be okay for me to send in my resume to agencies and stuff!? I'm not sure!.!.!.
also, would Disney take in someone with barely any experience and no agent!? I am thinking of sending my resume to them, but I'll just put like my "special skills" and stuff (like a British accent)!. Would this be okay!?
Please, no rude answers, I really want to get into the business but I'm not sure what to do!. I'm not looking for instant fame, I just want to act!.
Please and thank you :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

You are simply going to need your parents help as you are a minor!. also Disney is but one entity that employs actors but competition is steep so yes, it is unlikely that they'll take on someone with no experience, likewise reputable agents don't represent inexperienced actors!.

also, get in touch with the community theater director and explain yourself, they will be quite excited to help you!. They will not expect a 13 year old (or your parents) to know all the ins and outs of the business!. You have to start somewhere!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

First of all, I know it's hard to not have the total support of your family!. But just think: back in the old days, it was REALLY hard to get support for such a goal!. Actors were considered to be outcasts, immoral and given to wild ways!. Pursuing acting then would mean you would risk starvation or worse!. But nowadays, it's easier!. I know you're excited about acting, but I sense you may be a little unrealistic about it!. You don't need to worry about the head shots or Disney channel yet!. I think your best plan is to learn all you can and start gathering experience!. Take classes at your school or in your area!. Audition for plays!. Even if they are for small parts!. Learn to sing, dance, fence, or ride horses!. These could be special skills!. Unless you've worked with a diction coach, your British accent might not be much of a special skill!. When you aren't taking classes or performing in plays, memorize and perform monologues for your mirror or, better yet, a video camera!. Read books about acting!. Watch great films, study your favorite actors!. Devote yourself to your dream, body and soul!. When you commit to a course of action, the universe (God) sets into motion forces and impulses to help you reach that goal!. Never give up on this!. If you still want this when you are 18, not just to be famous or rich, but to be an actor, then you know this is true!. Never let anyone's opinion of your goal, or your skill, hold you back!. You are the sole master of your destiny, not your mother and father!. Once you've learned something of acting, some technique and are comfortable with performing, you should look into having good head shots taken!. You can spend a lot on this or you can get a good deal, just look around!. Find a photographer whose work you like!. Have them take A LOT of pictures of you!. You don't want to look too posed or unnatural!. Ideally, you should know your "type" by this point!. What kind of roles are you physically fit for!? For instance, Jennifer Aniston is a "Girl Next Door" type!. Some actors don't really fall into types, but you can always still market yourself as one type or another!. Once you know this, be sure to have a photo of you as this type!. If it were "Girl Next Door," which is what my type is, you might want to strike a casual pose and smile for the camera!. Look friendly and wholesome!. But because you want to show you have range, you would have another taken where you look a little more!.!.!. intense!. Not crazy, but darker!. A little moodier!. Then you should shop around for a legit agent or talent agency!. NEVER EVER get involved with an agency that asks for money up front!. This is a scam, as your agency costs you nothing until they've booked you a job!. They will deduct their fee from your payment for your roles, usually 10 percent!. It's a stressful, oftentimes lonely road, but you will make it if you pursue your goal with all your heart!. Good Luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com
