Question: What is Traverse Staging like!? !?
I know proscenium arch, thrust, in the round, and promenade theatre, just my holiday homework is to describe how I would stage a play and Traverse is a suggestion!.!.!. But I don't know what this staging looks like, does any body!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's when you have a runway stage in the middle, and the audience sitting on either side, facing each other!. It's probably the most difficult form of staging because half the audience is looking directly at the other half, so if you don't keep the audience's attention the whole time, they can feel self-conscious and easily distracted!. also there's restrictions on set with sight lines, etc, and which way your actors are facing, if they're looking at one side they've got their back to the other side!.

It's not used much because of the difficulties, so when it is used, and used well, it makes a big impact!. It's good if the show has a theme such as travelling, as you have a destination at either end!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
