First and foremost a career as an actor is a commitment of time and effort!. You're not going to be able to start your acting career by sending in video tapes to auditions!. A reel of your previous work might be requested by the casting director but you're still going to have to go in and audition!. A video of you doing some random monologue or scene is going to be worthless!.

If you're under 18 and still in school prepare for this career by involving yourself with the theater program in your school!. If you're an adult, join a theater group!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your question says "get started"!. When you get started you do plays at your school or community theater!.
Auditions vary!. Most of them you have to audition by going there!.
I'm not trying to bring your hopes down but who would you chose:
a!. Someone with lots of experience from plays and theater (or)
b!. Someone with no experience
You wont get a job withouth experience!.

I think that ther is no need for the experience if you feel your a good actress, 1st, get an agent, he will really help you go 2 auditions and he can also let you get started with acting careeer!
