Question: What is a "CV" and how does one build one!?
Hello everyone,

I'm interested in theater/film and would like to try to get an agent to represent me!. The only thing is that I need to build up a "CV" (I'm not sure what "CV" stands for but I know that it is basically a list of all the parts you've had so far)!. So!.!.!.how can I go about getting the parts necessary for the CV!? I am currently limited as far as school plays (i!.e!. they've already been cast) so what should I do!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

well a CV has to do with who you've studied with!. An agent is not important at this point in your career and you probably will end up getting screwed more than helped by gaining representation at this point!.
You might want to enroll in a non-school acting class, take some improv, cold reading classes, etc!. Learn the difference between acting in theater and on camera!.

As for building up a resume, you're going to do a lot of free work before you get pay!. So be prepared!. A few good places to start are craigslist in the "gigs" section!. As well as LA casting, actors access, backstage west, etc!. (all can be googled)

If you have any film schools or community college/university's with a film study department, you should check the department billboard or speak with a professor!. Usually students will post want-adds for their projects for actors/actresses, or perhaps a professor can point you in the right direction!.

also, if you ARE in LA, then start doing background work!. Get some experience on set, learn how things actually are!.

If you arent in LA, keep your eyes and ears open for any films that may be shooting in your area!.

But please dont waste your time thinking about an agent right now!. Not if the only things you've done are school plays, get some more experience and make a stronger first impression!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
