Those in the know know that it is important that the monologue be from a published play, no matter how talented as a writer you are, you are not auditioning as a writer, but as someone who acts publishable material!. You may care if you read the whole play or not, so you understand the character and why they are reacting the way they do in the monologue!. They could also ask you about the character and the play to find out how serious an actor you are and if you prepare well!. They would prefer a modern, comedy!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can write you own it doesnt really have to be long but a good length!. Agents and casting directors do care what you choose or read because it all depends on how you perform the monologue!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can get a monologue from a movie or write one yourself!.

If you get a monologue from a play, yes, you need to read the whole play!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I suggest you have a comedy one, and a dramatic one!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
