Do you want to be an actor, or do you want to be famous!? The two RARELY go together, so it's important you decide which you'd rather go for now!. If fame is the be-all and end-all for you, kill someone!. Assassinate a world leader!. Lock your daughter in the basement and father seven children with her!. These are FAR easier ways to become famous than through acting!. If, however, it is for the love of acting that you wish to proceed, then read on!. (I'm assuming from your phrasing you're in the UK; if you aren't, you'll need to adjust my answer to make it make more sense for you regionally!.)

Keep studying drama!. Do drama for GCSE, do theatre studies for A-level!. Audition for every school play that'll have you, and take every part offered no matter how small!. Do amateur dramatics in your spare time!. Read plays!. Get to grips with Shakespeare as soon as possible (preferably by seeing it performed live)!. Go to the theatre whenever you can!. It's nigh-impossible to get anywhere without an agent, and it's very difficult to get an agent without proper formal training, so you'll be looking at an accredited drama school rather than any other university!. Talk to your drama teacher; s/he'll help you prepare audition monologues and interview techniques!. If you can fit dance and/or singing lessons into your life, do so!. There are so many people wanting to go into showbiz that you need to give yourself every advantage possible!. It's very unlikely you'll get into drama school first time round!. If you're unsuccessful first time, take a year out!. Earn some money, get some life experience, continue with the amateur dramatics, then audition again!. If you're truly determined and put the work in, you should get into one eventually, but you need to be SO dedicated, and you need to be prepared for rejection!.

If you're reading this and thinking "hell, I don't want to do all that!", then odds are good you aren't dedicated enough to be an actor!. Most Equity members are unemployed for most of the year!. Fewer than 10% of Equity members are in work at any time!. It's a disgustingly hard life, and you should not go for it if you will not be totally devoted!.

Still here!? I've not put you off!? I'm impressed! Go buy a copy of 'So You Want to Tread the Boards' by Jennifer Reischel, and prepare yourself for the rest of your life!. ^_^Www@QuestionHome@Com

get into some of your city plays, get your 8by10 (i think 8by10) black and white pictures, then when you get better and think ppl would want you in more plays you definetely should move to california and get a agent and a manager and get your agent to get you a director looking for a actor and keep acting on from there, thats what my drama teacher told me what i should do with the rest of my future!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Is there a drama teacher you know very well!? Ask him/her about it!. You might get a big break that way, because someone might have a show!. Or, look in the newspaper to see!. There might be an audition!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

wrong reasons for being an actor!. better start where you are in get in all the school plays, then plan to go to university to study acting!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
