Question: PLEASE HELP! Which blocking style is better!?!?!?
I am going to start blocking rehearsals the day after tomorrow!. I am a novice director!. Is it better to read the blocking to the actors and then let them go through the scene!. Or!.!.!. Should you block them as they go!? Which is less time consuming!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've never been directed by anyone who read the blocking to the actors before the scene started!. Block as you go, for two reasons: you'll see problems as they might come up, and even better, you might see something with the actors on their feet that you didn't think of when you worked out the blocking on paper!.

also, (and probably most importantly), it's good to give the actors the impression that their work is stimulating your creativity!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Block as they go, because some of it they'll probably just do without having to be told!. When they aren't doing the right thing, then you step in and tell them where to be!. It will be time consuming either way, but this is the way that'll work best!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

block as you go I've found its WAY easier you can see what you like and catch mistakes and such!. also have some blocking in mind so you know what you likeWww@QuestionHome@Com

Have the blocking planned, but be willing to be flexible in the rehearsal process!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
