Question: Into the woods help!?
ok so my school is doing into the woods this year and I'm very excited! I really want to be the bakers wife or cinderella!. I know this is a very vocally demanding show and I just had a general question!. I am in choir and theatre and I have a probably average voice, I am in the show choir!. There are other people auditioning who have more vocal training or experience than I do, but they can't really act!. I can do both but I'm not the best I can be!. Do I have a good chance!? also we can bring our own material and I've been debating between 2 songs!.

which should I sing if I'm auditioning for the baker's wife!? any other advice would be helpful!. Thank You!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Audition for The Baker's Wife-- she's a mezzo and there's more acting!.
Cinderella has to be a legit soprano and of no real dramatic ability!.

Song suggestions:
DO SONDHEIM

The Miller's Son (goes very low, though)

the bakers wife is a very calm yet driven person!. you have to be able to seem relaxed yet very excited about the fact that you might be getting a child!.

just dont let and nerves get to you during the audition!.

you'll be great :] Www@QuestionHome@Com

Of course you do! Keep in mind, however, if you don't get the role, it is not because you aren't talented, it is just because you don't necessarily fit what they are looking for!. But hey, you've got just a good a chance as anyone!

Those are both good songs, but I would recommend doing something composed by Sondheim!. He has such a distinct, challenging style, and directors often want to hear if you can handle him!. Look into something (an alto song, if you are interested in the Bakers Wife, or a soprano piece for Cinderella) from maybe Sweeney Todd, A Sunday in the Park with George, or Company!.

First off, I've seen Into the Woods before!. It was funny, and I loved it! Unfortunately, I've only seen it once, and that was in 6th grade, so I don't remember it that well!. You're lucky!. My school doesn't offer theatre!. Oh well!. Second, just practice, and you'll do fine!. Try hard to hit the right notes whenever you practice!. By the way, you can hit higher notes if you sing louder!. I think that if you can act and sing, you have a better chance of getting the part!. The people casting parts won't be looking for the best voice (though do work on pronunciation and projection), they'll be looking for the person who best fits the part!.!.!.!.!.and can still act and sing!. So think about the character you want to be!. In a certain situation, what would they do!? When you think of your character, who do you see!? What qualities do you see!? Work very hard to become your character!. You don't have to fill your entire potential though!. That's a life-long journey!. Don't try to be the best you'll ever be!. Be the best you are now!. It's good enough!. I think you have a very good chance!. But unfortunately, I don't know either of the songs you're talking about!. Choose the one that best fits your character when you think about her personality!. Which would she be more likely to sing!? And if you don't get the part don't worry!. There are other opportunities!. When I was in 4th grade, I auditioned for a play, and didn't get a part at all!. But in 5th grade, I got the lead in a musical!. So if you don't get a part, don't freak out and tell yourself that all in the world is evil and wrong, lol!. =) Instead, recognize what you could've done better, and keep praticing until the next opportunity!. And if you get nervous during auditions, stop thinking about what might go wrong, and focus on a quote or memory that makes you feel brave!. I really hope you get the part you want! I'm sure you'll do great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =)Www@QuestionHome@Com
