Have you read any of the No Fear Shakespeare series!? The original text and a modern day "translation" are side by side!. They have online copies of the books!. Here's the link for Othello: http://nfs!.sparknotes!.com/othello/

Foils are characters that are similar (usually) in terms of gender, physical appearance, background, and age but differ in terms of personality, outlook, actions, or motive!. The easiest way to determine characters that are foils is to look at the main character and find his antagonist!. Othello and Iago are considered foils, even though their background is obviously different, but they do share a military background!. I'm sure you can see how they would differ in motive/personality!. You could also use Iago and Cassio as foils!. Or Desdemona and Emilia!. As far as what scene, there are clues littered all over the play for all of these combinations!. In addition, each of these pairs do have scenes where it is just the two of them!. I hope I've given you a starting off point!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
