Question: Can anyone tell me a good audition song for "Once Upon A Mattress!?"
I have a first soprano range {low Db to high G, but then again i'm guessing, ive hit a high b before but i cant tell if that's below or above a high g} and I'm hoping to audition for the role of Winifred, however, in our production you a) can't audition for one specific part and b) you cannot audition with a song that came from the show you are auditioning for!. ANY SUGGESTION IS WELCOME!Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's a shame that you can't audition with songs from the show!.!.!. both "Happily Ever After" and "Shy" are some of my favorite audition songs! For a first soprano, I would suggest "Home" from Beauty and the Beast (it will really show off your acting ability), "Children Will Listen" from Into The Woods, and "Vanilla Ice Cream" from She Loves Me!. Whatever you pick to sing, just make sure that (above all) you are prepared! I'm sure with your range, your production will definately put you to good use no matter what!Www@QuestionHome@Com

My school just did Once Upon a Mattress!. I didn't see it, nor was I in it, so I can't help you with any of these questions!.

If you can, read through the script!. Then decide what kind of person is Winnifred!. What is she like!? Is she mostly joking or serious!? Ect!.

So once you've done this, write down every trait that you can think of about Winnifred!.

Now, open up iTunes or YouTube, and find songs that you thing capture the essence of Winnifred and these traits!.

Once you have a list, choose your favorite song!. You might want to consider songs that are in a simalar style ti the songs in the play!. :P

Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Winifred is a totally comic and rather belting character!.!.!.perhaps something like Ado Annie's "I Cain't Say No" from Oklahoma or one of "Adelaide's Laments" from Guys and Dolls would be fun and brassy enough!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
