1!. BE YOURSELF!! Don't pretend to be someone your not offstage!. Be friendly to everybody and don't just hang around your group!. Don't be shy, meet new people! Directors look for this kind of confidence!. Funny, huh!? But you won't be acting all the time!.

2!. PREPARE!! Treat this like a day job!. Have fun, but always be rehearsing your lines or songs!. If you have to audition, put some real effort into it!. Doing things like this on the fly doesn't work!. Trust me!.

3!. BE THE CHARACTER!! Kind of the opposite of #1, huh!? But this is onstage and during auditions and rehersals!. Always give it your all, camera or no camera!. Be thinking as if you were the character, even if you have no costume!. Think of what they would do next what they did before this, as well as what their doing now!. You should know your character's background, too!. You should know their family, their friends, even what he/she would do if they were just sitting around talking about nothing! All of this helps!.

4!. ACCEPT THE DIRECTOR'S DECISIONS!! It's fine to question a change or certain thing in a script, but don't argue and don't make a scene!. If the director cuts out a scene where you're prominent or you have a song!? Ask, but leave it at that!. You could be asked to leave if you argue!. And if you don't get the part that you want, then be happy with what you've got or don't accept the role!. Simple!.

5!. BE HONEST!! If you skivved last night, then 'fess up!. You might still get cut, but at least you have some respect!. Will you only take a certain role!? Tell them!. It saves them trouble to find a new actor if you decline the role they give you!. If you have certain values, like not saying God's name in vain, not swearing, etc!. then tell them!

6!. ALWAYS GIVE IT YOUR ALL!! A director isn't going to like someone who only tries when there's a camera or and audience!. Why!? Because one, they can't see it come together the way they want it too, and that's not good, and two, because this gives you a bad rep, being lazy and all!. And reputations get around!. They are a very effective measure of theater politics!.

7!. BE CONFIDENT!! Directors don't like the kind of people who are constantly insecure!. Yeah, you're gonna be nervous, especially if the girl you're auditioning with is super good!. But she's just as scared as you! Don't let it intimidate you, because chances are, you're just as good as her!. On the other side, don't get arrogant!. Nobody likes a snotrag!. Stay strong with your voice and your actions, and don't let anybody tell you that you won't succeed!. Most of the time, they're just jelous!.

8!. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!! You have got to do this!. Even when you think that you're gonna die if you do it one more time, that's the time to do it again!. There's nothing wrong with becoming obsessed over it, even!. Practice your lines at home with a family member!. Practice your songs with a pianist!. Act out scenes in your head so you know what to do!. You can never practice enough!. Bottom line!.

9!. NERVES!! Personally, I am more nervous acting around friends and family then I am strangers!. But I know plenty of people who are the other way around!. If you're like me, then just think that all those people in the audience don't know you, and don't care how bad you screw up!. If you're the opposite, then think the opposite (wow)!. Think that some of those people are your friends and family, and that they'll still love you even if you completely blow it!.

10!. SHOWTIME!! It's your moment!. It's your spotlight!. Let it shine!. There's nothing that can match the exhillaration after a performace is pulled off, and the feeling you get while doing it!. It will fly by, because you're living in the moment!. And if you mess up!? Keep going!. Shake it off!. Chances are, no one in the audience will notice!. And if you really mess up!? Really bad!? Do the same thing!. The audience will crack up!. You can add a funny line or change it a bit if you can't really remember what to say!. Rely on your fellow actors, they will rely on you too!. Trust your instincts!. There's nothing like a good improv match!!

Oh, and if you watch yourself on camera later and can't look at yourself!? That's called being allergic to watching yourself, and it's perfectly normal (I have it myself)!. And if you can't get enough of it!? Good for you!. Just don't get arrogant!.

Good luck with drama! Keep acting!! :-))Www@QuestionHome@Com

Practice Practice Practice!. Watch people on TV and mimic them!. Go outside and observe people when they are talking, walking etc!. The more understanding you have of people and even animals the better you will be able to act!.

also remember what makes are good character is conflict!. A character cannot exist without it so remember that!.

Improvisational acting is very important element!. Learn what it is and practice it!.

And don't over think things too much that often gets in the way of good acting

I wish i was in drama! Haha, anyways, you shouldn't really be nervous if your that kind of person who is good at public speaking, i'm never afraid of it!. Just pretend that their isn't really even a crowd!. act like it's just your family and friends!. and as for the lines, don't talk to fast or to slow and speak clearly and loud enough that the audience can hear you!. (: Oh, and one more thing, use your body and voice so it can go with what your character is feeling or doing =]

good luck!!!! XDWww@QuestionHome@Com
