Question: Daughter is interested in acting!?
My 14 year old daughter is interested in acting!. We live in a relatively small town outside of Raleigh NC!. I need to know if there was anywhere or anyone we could talk to about her "career"!.
We've already talked about the chances of her not being big and not making it as far as she wants to, and we've decided shes ready to take the risk!. I know she's kinda late for a career in acting seeing as some people start at a young age, but she really wants this!. Please help!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

She isnt late at all for a career!. If anything she is really early!. Will Smith got into it at 18 when he got Fresh Prince!. You dont see too many roles in shows and movies for a 14 year old unless its Disney or Nickelodean!. Every kid around is going to those two studios looking for a chance!. I would say to get her to try out for school plays and get into the drama department as well!. Then during a big break in school like maybe Spring Break take a family vacation to LA!. That way it could still be some family fun and everyone can hit the beach and then you can also take her to a couple of auditions and let her get her feet wet!. Maybe she will even get a call back!. It wouldnt even have to break the bank if you scheduled it far in advance!. As far as stuff in Raleigh I am not sure about!. A lot of cities have a theater and a few acting gigs but if she is looking for the big time movies and shows then it has to be LA or NYC!. I know you dont want her to get her hopes up but I wouldnt tell her the bad odds of her not making it that often!. No one in movies or shows made it over night!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

well have you talked to her about how hard it truly is!? Acting!. It can be really emotionally hard, and physically hard!. and just plain hard! make sure she wants to be an actress because she loves the art, not to be famous or make money!.

But if she loves it for the art start on the stage!. Do local shows with theatre groups, and tell her to take drama at school, if she's any good and she really likes it, then do more stage shows, get some headshots, and find an agent, (if one asks for mulah up front there a scam) and wait!Www@QuestionHome@Com

All I can say is to let your daughter follow her dreams!. To quote Helen Keller: "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing!." Gandma Moses started painting when she was 75 years old, and is still known for her beutiful artwork today!. Sorry I don't know more, I hope this helps!. Peace!Www@QuestionHome@Com
