Question: What is "cold reading" in acting!? I only know it from magicians and mentalists, but why do actors need this!?

Cold reading means reading aloud from a script or other text without any rehearsal or practice!.

Cold readings are usually seen in actor auditions for the casting agent or producer or playwright!. They are also used for performance classes and by playwrights who need to hear their play read aloud by actors!.

A 'cold reading' is, during an audition, when an actor/actress in given a peice of the script to read without having ever seen it before!. They are expected to act out said scene from the script to show their talent!. It's easy to do well when you've practice, it's another thing to do well without ever having done it before!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i think it is when you just have to read a line out of no where
