Do what YOU are passionate about! It's you who have to live out your whole life -- not them!. If you're really dedicated to the dream of being an actor, then you should go for it!. It is nice to have the support of your family --- but not necessary!.

I would suggest sitting down with them to talk over how serious you are about becoming an actor!. Involve yourself in clubs, summer camps, just anything that will give you experience!.

Do you study drama!? do you perform!? can you show what you do!? What does your drama teacher say about you!? No one ensures you success (only scammers!)!. First, make yourself clear if you want a JOB or an ACTIVITY that will make you happy!. If you want to be "famous" (means being professional to you), and then make money, you should differentiate that being notorious is not necesary being talented, or, even worse, will make you compromise many ethical things that you might not like to do or act in plays that you dont really like!.
