Question: Is it okay to send in self-taken photos in a resume!?
Okay so i wanna send in a resume for this television show, but my parents and all my friends totally don't support me!. & It says that i have to send in some headshots in with my resume, but my parents won't take me to get headshots taken!. So would it be okay if i took some photos of myself, and sent that in!? Or would that be unprofessional, and they wouldn't accept it!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are a few things to consider!. First of all, know that there will be thousands of applications for this tv show, and many will probably come from actors / actresses that are hardcore working on getting jobs and becoming famous!. Those people will already have professional headshots!.
So, there is a big chance your photos will not look professional!. However, if they like your look and think your resume has potential, they may want to see who you are in person no matter what!. I would not think they would base everything on what you looked like, unless they have specific characteristics to fill for particular roles!.

I have some advice - there is a web site called One Model Place!. This site has model, actors, actresses, musicians, and photographers!. They do what is called "Trade For Photos" or TFP, in which the photographers are willing to work with people for free so where they can build up their portfolio of portraits of models, actors, etc!.!.!.!.!. So, you can go on there, look up some photographers in your area, and contact them about doing this!. These photographers may be amateurs looking to go pro, but I bet they would be able to get a few shots of you that would look better than what you can take with your own point and shoot camera!. Please be careful though!. Don't go on a photo shoot without a friend, your boyfriend, or mom!. You never know the photographer's intentions and he may want to push you into poses or situations you are not ready for, but if you have someone there, you will have no problems!.
The only thing you will probably have to do is get the photos printed to send along with your resume!.

With all due respect, as others state, the industry standard is a professional issue, regarding head shots!. That doesn't say you can't create a decent shot, or shouldn't make the effort however!.

Certainly this analogy might explain it otherwise!. "One cannot win a lottery, without buying a ticket!."

As one answer states you may find yourself in competition with "Pros", and essentially, just as would be the case in the corporate world, this is a search for a JOB!. As such, it will be, should be an expectation that on all levels one presents themselves in a professional manner!.

It is a Head Shot, and the staging/setting/backdrop for it, might at least be subtle and professional!. Clothing simplistic, modest makeup, a "Normal" facial pose, full to no less than 3/4 face!. Certainly, as suggested, if your cam has a timer, is a decent digital, and,or if you have help doing the setup and shoot, go for it!. Be aware that a head shot included with a professional resume should be 8 x 10!.

Again; you cant know if you don't make the attempt, and so much of the craft, and every other phase of ones life, as maturation happens, is to learn acceptance, tolerance, and some minor compromises that aren't degrading!. Those would be especially true in learning how to handle rejections!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ok, first off, a couple things!. What kind of show is this for!? Are we talking network sitcom!? Is this something where an ad was posted asking for self submissions from actors!? Is it for a local show!?

If it's local, sure, go ahead and send in some snap shots!. If this is for a national show, you need to present your package as professionally as possible!. Do you even have a resume!? Training/experience!? If your not really an actor and are doing this because you think it would be fun, then you're going to have to play up other strengths than a professioanl headshot and resume!. In your picture (make sure it's color), show a lot of personality, but still stay within headshot standards!. Here's a link to the photographers page I used for my headshote - check out his portfolio for some examples of great shots, www!.ronrinaldi!.com

Make sure the shot is 8 x 10 and staple your resume to the back!.

Good luck! This may be a long shot, but hey, it never hurts to try, right!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

most of the time, self taken headshots are unproffesional and it would hard to get an agent because it shows you are not serious about this!. but if u really cant get them proffesionaly done, try to make them as proffesional as possible:
-make sure its only a head and shoulder shot
-preferably in black and white
-wear something that shows off ur personality
-smile like you mean it!
-8x10 photo, or something close to there
Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

no they wont take it you need headshots! go to sears or walmart! sears is way better but around 200 for a good price and walmart is 40 and just a regular boring headshotWww@QuestionHome@Com
