Question: I am a first year teacher looking for some inspiring movement exercies for my theatre classes!.!?
I have a million improv games, thats not what I am looking for!. What I need is more along of the lines of characterization I suppose; activities that will get my students more comfortable and intune to their physicality options for acting!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ok, so tehres one of a few games (I've been taking clased at a performing workshop for about 10 years)!.!.!.

1) Catch phrase!.!.!.write a bunch of funny sayings down on slips of paper!. Give two people a scene and tell them to go!. they take turns picking (on your hand clap) unti lyou say wrap it up!. then tehy end the scene

2)Walking through!.!.!.have each kid pick a "thing" or "scene" to walk through!. As they walk through that teh rest of the class has to try to guess what it was they were walking through!.

3)(no name!.!.)!.!.!.put two kids in a position!. one must start the scene saying or doing something, and the other must follow suit!. played like catch phrase w/o the phrases!. wehn you clap they must freeze and then a new person goes in picks one person to go out, takes tehir exact position, and resumes with a new topic!.

4)(no name again!.!.!.)!.!.!.Each person is a charcter (mother, grandma, baby!.!.!.!.) then you start the scene with two people, and each time you clap, another person from the class has to join in a some creative way as their character!. Wehn is gets up to 4 people, the person in the longest must find a creative way to leave as the new person enters!. this can continue as long as you want!.

5) The party game!.!.!.ever watched who's line is it anyways!?!?!? well, that's the game!!

E-mail me if yo uwant each explained a little better!.
