Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Identify the emotion of the character!. Find an experience in your life where you had the same emotion!. Access that!. It's called sense memory!.

An example my mom (who was a method actor) used was to feel anger, frustration and possibly homicidal, she would remember how it felt when a mosquito was constantly buzzing her!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Method Acting is using your emotional and sense memory to protray the character;s emotions!. It is based on a mis interpretation of Stanislavski by Lee Strasberg, and is a complete fraud!. Read Acting without Agony by Richardson, which exposes Strasberg's lack of knowledge about what he was doing!. Anyway!. it is old fashioned, snobbish, and not worth the effort!. There are better, more modern ways of acting such as was and is taught by Richardson, and Eric Morris, and Tony Barr, and Harold Guskin!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Its difficult to explain but I'll try!. The idea is to feel and understand the emotions of the character but at the same time to stay a bit detached and in control!. If you look at movies from the 1950s directed by Elia Kazan you can see lots of examples, some people think its great art but I find it pretentious and bizarrely unnatural!. Its still taught at the Actors Studio on 13th Street here in NYC!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
