Actually no there is no specific major for it, BUT you need to have excellent management, negotiation and business skills, not to mention chutzpah and connections, why don't you contact a local casting director, tell them you want to be one, ask for an internship and see how you like it, really it is not as glamorous as it sounds it is HARD WORK!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Going to college is never necessary, but is always a good idea, because it is an opportunity to pool ideas, and to hear of things you wouldn't have thought of yourself!.

Just going on a course is not good enough!. That way all you will learn is the mistakes of the past and persons with diplomas in regurgation abound!.

Most schools have a theatre and acting groups and all the rest of it!. Get involved, that is where to cut your teeth and to start learning from your mistakes!. Join an amateur acting society, and learn both sides!.

Investigate other medium, film, radio, and video and quite often the best way to do this is in college, because you will be able so see equipment in action and discover the foibles of each medium!. Not only that you may be able to see other sudents try out casting, and it is by far easier to learn from the mistakes of others than from ones own mistakes!.

You're the person that will choose the face that will put bums on seats, but you have also got to consider casting in depth, and to give people a chance!. You will also need to be able to socialise to get known, to understand the offstage persona so you can read between the lines in the actors and actresses directory!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
