Question: Teen Male Monologue FROM A PLAY!?
I need a monologue FROM A PLAY that is for a male (or male/female) teen or preteen age 14-16!.

For best answer points, please PUT THE MONOLOGUE HERE!. I've seen literally hundreds of monologue sites, so please please please don't just post a link here!. I've searched for hours on every site!. Trust me!.

If possible, I'd like a comedic monologue, about 1-2 minutes, though if it's good, please post dramatic monologues too!.

Keep in mind that I'm 16 but I'm on the shorter side (5'4"), so I could play anyone starting probably at age http://www!.musicaltheatreaudition!.com/pe!.!.!.

Thanks!

Sorry for this long list of "qualifications," but one more thing!. It can't be too overdone (it would be great if the play was less than 10 years old)!. Here's an overdone monologue list for helpWww@QuestionHome@Com

I could give you a ton, but instead I'm going to give you the truth!.!.!.

If it is in a monologue book, on a website, or if someone posts it as an answer to your question, it's going to be overdone and whatever judges you are doing it for will have heard it 10,000 times!. That's just the fact!.

The best way to find good, potent, new monologues that will keep the judges listening is to look in recently written plays that haven't been out very long!. Look up current plays online and then go to the library! I'm a theatre student and I spend about 8 hours in the library before every open call audition!.

Here are some play titles to get you started:

-Dog Sees God (my favorite play--its about the Peanuts characters when they're in High School!. Great dramatic and comedic monologues)
-subUrbia (characters about 18-23 years old)-- or anything else by Eric Bogosian
- Season's Greetings (a play adaptation of David Sedaris' work)
-The Long Christmas Ride Home

Anyhow, hope that helps a bit!. I know looking for monologues sucks, but its important to look hard for them and know their context!. Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

From "Hedwig and the Angry Inch!." Yes, it's a movie, but it was a stage show first!.

Johnny Gnossis: "Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal lord and savior!? You know, what he was saving us from was his f***in' father!. I mean, what kind of God creates Adam in his image, and then pulls Eve out of him to keep him company, and then tells him not to eat from the Tree of Knowledge!? I mean, he was so micromanaging!. And so was Adam! But Eve!.!.!. Eve just wanted to know s**t!. She took a bite of the apple, and she found out what was good and what was evil!. And then she gave it to Adam, so he would know, 'cause they were in love!. And that was good! 'They now knew!' Hedwig!.!.!. would you give me the apple!?"

Of course, you'll probably need to clean up the language, depending on the setting!.

Whatever monologue you go with, make sure you familiarize yourself with the ENTIRE show it's from, not just the little snippet you're performing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This monologue is from a short film called something with Liquid!. I'm sorry I can't specifically remember!. The character's name is Felix Gabriel!.

FELIX: Everyone always tells me boys can't cry!. They have to play football and follow the opinion of their father!. They hit on girls like it's a sport and their wardrobe consists of basketball shorts and sweaty jerseys!. You know what's crazy!? The other day I had to lie to my dad and tell him I was going to rugby tryouts when really I was going to acting classes!. His greatest fear is that one day I'm gonna wake up and decide that I'm in love with a man!. Well, that day has come!. But what difference does it make!? I'm still a man!.!.!.more a man than my father will ever be!.

I know this may be a little tough but I've always loved it and I wish I knew the title of the short film because the boy who did it was incredible!. Good luck! Hope I helped!Www@QuestionHome@Com
