Question: How Do I Become a Theatre Producer!?
I would love to work in theatre, specifically be a producer, but im having a lot of trouble finding information on how I can actually achieve this!.
So any info on the general career path, requirements, work experience etc would be great!!! (Ive joined my university musical theatre and acting societies but obviously their not really active until October so advice on experience beyond that would be great!)
Im looking to get a job in a theatre when uni starts up again as well, (im in London), to see how theatres work in general, will this be useful!!?
Thanks in advance!Www@QuestionHome@Com

No matter where you're located, Producer has various definitions!. It could be running boards, coordinating shows, to putting up the funds for a production to happen!.

Initially it may not be an extremely gratifying job, but in essence, all jobs in theater are what make the curtain go up, and involve an audience!.

In a most general sense you should have a solid theater technology background!. Here in the states, even community colleges offer 2 year courses for AA degrees in that area!. Obviously hands on experience works, as might internships!.

To be in any level of a production staff, one should know everything, from lighting, rigging and sound, to creating a sense of some authority, and interacting with stage management, directors, etc!. You can pretty much define the job, by the Websters definition of Producer!. Results is the bottom line, in a most positive sense!.
