Question: I need help practicing for Pirates of Penzance!!!?
Next year our high school musical is going to be The Pirates of Penzance!. Currently I am the only senior soprano, and I'm worried about getting the notes Maybell sings! If I can't sing them, it will go to a underclassmen and I really want the lead my senior year!. I have been in 5 school productions, for three I was supporting characters and I really would love just one lead before my high school theater career is through!. If you have any really good tips on how to lengthen my range that would be fantastic, currently my highest is high B!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Don't knock yourself - a high B is pretty decent!.
Honestly, there's no quick fix for things like this!. You can't quickly change your range like snapping your fingers, which you probably know already!. The best you can do is basic singing exercises, preferably with a vocal coach!. Do you have one!?
also, it's just a high school production!. I know these things are important - trust me, they were as or more important to me as to anyone else!. But it BEING a high school play means that they can quite easily change the key for certain songs by just a few notes!. Okay, so it would be different and all, but lets be honest: that's what they do in a lot of high school shows!. And Pirates is an operetta! There's definitely gonna be some note-fudging!.
Just do your best, keep your vocal chords healthy and intact, and break a leg!
