Question: Sweeney todd!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Okay I'm auditioning for mrs!.lovett and I need some tips on what to do when i play her for the audition!. so any ideas!?
what song of hers should i sing(must sing a song from sweeney todd)!?

First of all, the Sweeney Todd movie is NOT by Johnny Depp!. It's directed by Tim Burton!. But as far as the audition!.!.!.I'd recommend renting the video of the stage version with Angela Lansbury (you can get it on Netflix--try getting a month-long free trial membership, then cancelling it after you return the vid) or the in-concert version with Patti LuPone!. Watch their performances--they're both much better than Helena Bonham Carter!. Mrs!. Lovett's character is very busy and blustering, and even though she's obviously quite common, she fancies herself a real gentlewoman, so remember that she does a lot of the putting-on-airs stuff!. also, keep in mind that she has been in love with Sweeney for a long time!.

As for which song!.!.!.are you required to sing one of her songs for this audition!? Because unless you are, it's better not to sing a song from the play you're auditioning for!. Try something from one of Sondheim's other plays, like Company or Into the Woods!. But if you have to sing one of her songs, I'd definitely recommend "Wait"--it really shows your range and, if you want it to, your acting ability!. Break a leg!Www@QuestionHome@Com
