acting jobs centralized in LA, NY and Miami?

Question: Why are modeling/acting jobs centralized in LA, NY and Miami!?

I just got a contract and since my agency mostly gets jobs in these cities, I think I should move to where the work is!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That's tough question to answer!. The work is centralized mainly because when the film industry was young, they needed to be in a location that gave the max number of shooting days and made it easy to do business in that city!. LA fit the bill perfectly, although for a while it looked like it was going to be Northern California!. Now that it IS centralized, most of the opportunities, actors, and professionals work out of either NY or LA!. If your ultimate goal is to persue this industry as a performer or film maker, you would have the best chance if you lived in one of these cities!. However, the agent you have can only work in the area you live in!. Just as an actor wants to live where the work is, an agent has to be in the area they book the auditions in!. If you plan on moving, see about securing representation before you move, it's too difficult to get meetings in a market as busy as Los Angeles!.
