Position:Home>Theater & Acting> An acting opportunity for me... what is it like?

Question: An acting opportunity for me!.!.!. what is it like!?
Yesterday, a woman rushed out of her car to give me a card to try out acting for The Disney Channel!. She said I was "perfect ofr the role" and said I was really pretty!. Yeah, that was pretty flattering!.
I decided to go, since it's tomorrow!. The thing is, I have no idea whatsoever about acting!. I don't know how to act AT ALL!.
I'm going to go just to see what tryouts are like!.
My mother said that I could make it in easily, and then from there they want you to pay money for them!. I don't think she really knows what she is talking about, because she told me that what she was talking about was modeling for catalogs, not acting!. (I respect her, I'm not saying she has no idea what she says, she does, on other things!.)
Anyways, I don't care if I make it in or not!. It would be kind of cool to get in though!. My question, though, is: Will it cost any money to act in a show!?
Another question: What can expect in acting tryouts!?
No critical comments or spam, please!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
it should absolutely NOT cost you anything to act in a show!. You get paid!

If anyone asks you for money for ANYTHING, including getting signed up with an agency, or 'schools', it's a scam!.

Don't let anyone flatter you into paying them money for representation!. It doesn't work like that!. Legitimate agents get paid after you get booked for actual work, not before!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Since you don't know anything about it, any answer would be a bad guess!.

Sounds like a scam!. What is her title on the business card!?

You don't pay anything to audition or sign with an agency!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Cameras!!! and more cameras!!!!
LOL GOODLUCK!Www@QuestionHome@Com

This is an old familiar SCAM!. Forget it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

What happened in this situation is you were "Scoutted!." There are thousands upon thousands of talent scouts roaming the streets and malls of every major city!. If you were asked to attend an open call, you are not going to be asked to act!. They know you probably can't at this point!. What will happen is they will bring you in, ask you some questions, ask you to read a few lines!. And maybe take some pictures of you (they may shoot some video footage of you saying your name and where you're from, etc!. which is called making a slate)!. If they like what they see, they will call you back and take things from there!. You should never be asked to pay for anything up front!. If you sign with an agent/agency, they will take a percentage from your pay/earnings from jobs you land!.!.!.!. But all that's quite far down the road at this point!. Just go, look presentable and neat, be polite to EVERYONE!!! there, and avoid getting into a bunch of gossiping, complaining people!. It will bring your energy down as well as your mood!. This WILL read in your camera interview/slate!.!.!.!.!. So go else where and wait to be called if need be!.!.!.
