The Scarlet Pimpernel is based on a book series by Baroness Orczy!. It takes place during the French Revolution and details the efforts of a young Englishman and his friends trying to save souls from the Guillotine!.

I believe that Chauvelin is a Baritone!. He is the lead villain and has a few songs!.

I think in one of the newer versions of the show, they also gave him part of Madame Guillotine, the opening number!. That however would depend on which version of the show is being done!. It was revised several times (even while running on Broadway)!. I would suggest picking up the CD!. There are two versions of!. I recommend the Original Cast!.
