I recently went to my daughters school for a dance production!. It was a variety of different pieces, artists and dance!. There was a modern piece, totally choreographed by the 15 year old lad, who danced it with a girl of 15!. To look at this guy just standing, he looked a bit geeky and not exactly an attention holder, but when he started to dance, it was breathtaking! I was totally captivated, he totally commanded the performance!.

The funny thing was i saw him a few days later, packing bags at a local grocery store, and no one even gave him a second look, but i definitely looked at him in a new light!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

When I was very small, my parents took me along to see "Pippin"!. From memory, it had a revolving stage, so you could see scenes from the characters' lives, as it rotated!. also, the opening scene, where the first thing you see, is something like a sparkling gloved hand, in pure darkness!.!. has stayed with me, and my family, for generations!.

also, famously, the moment Christine steps through the mirror, in Phantom Of The Opera, is a memorable moment from modern theatre!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In terms of spectacle:
- The moment in Wicked, during the song Defying Gravity, when Elphaba flew
- The moments in Mary Poppins when she flew in on the kite string and when Bert walked around the proscenium arch
- The moment near the start of Phantom where the chandelier flies up and the theatre comes back to life!.
- Chitty flying out over the audience!

In dramatic or emotional terms:
- A production of King Lear where the actor playing Kent had me from the second he stepped onto the stage; his line "I have a journey, sir, shortly to go/My master calls me; I must not say no," reduced me to instant tears
- The moment at the end of Les Mis when Valjean dies gets me every time, as does the bit where all the spirits of those who died on the barricades come back in, singing the reprise of "Do You Hear The People Sing" - when I worked on it, it was staged so that they all ran forwards into the light in twos and threes - you'd see crew members standing in the wings with tears pouring down their faces!.
- A few moments in The History Boys, involving Posner, when your heart just goes out to him - the raw emotion is almost too much!.
- A ballet production of Romeo and Juliet where somehow, the dancers managed to convey Shakespeare without words, somehow the beauty and power of the language came through, as well as the arc of the story - it was a gorgeous, glorious productionWww@QuestionHome@Com
