I sat in the chair by the bed watching him sleep until i ached from sitting and went out to the tool shed where i had hidden the suitcase and put it by the door of the car and stood without knowing what to do next in the yard listening to the trucks go by on the freeway down below!. He was so good about beginnings and endings and summing things up and knowing what must be done and explaining why it was the way it was now and i'd never seemed to have a talent for it!. I owed him a good solid ending that he could carry around with him and trot out on occasions and gatherings but for the life of me i couldnt think of one and it was a serious hopeless failing and couldn't be forgiven!. I thought of so many things that had happened andWww@QuestionHome@Com

Another good way to get it down is to go through the monologue by memory as far as you can and when you mess up STOP IMMEDIATELY!. Check the next word or rest of the sentence!. Then start over (by memory) FROM THE TOP!. Everytime you flub up, start over from the begining!. Soon you'll get not only the words down, but you'll get the feeling of the piece!.

First of all, get off the computer!.!.!.

Secondly, you have to truly understand all the words and intent of your speech!. Who is your character talking to and what is she trying to communicate!.

Then memorize it section by section!. There may not be time to be word-perfect but at least know where the monologue is headed!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I already gave you my answer!. Sorry you didn't find it satisfying!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

When I memorize I find words that I can put a picture to it in my head!. Like the part of the yard/trucks/freeway make something up to remind you they are in the same sentence!. good/beginninng/summin/explaining!. The adjatives should come to you!. also if there is a part I keep screwing up!.!. I take the first word, middle and end word and memorize them with another picture in my head!. Then if I find I can't get it!.!. I set it aside!.!. watch something on tv for a 10 mins!.!. and you will be amazed at how you will be back on top of it!. Good luck to you and breath!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Break the monologue down into beats (groups of thoughts, changes in direction, emotion, etc!.)!. Use these beats to help you connect to the meaning of the monologue, what she really means by these words!. Once you feel you've connected to the piece, just sit there and repeat, repeat, repeat!.

The best thing you'll learn from this is hopefully to NEVER procrastinate like this again!. Otherwise your career in theatre will be very short lived!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your rehersal isnt going to go well, is it!? At least you have that opportunity to get it right!. suggest you write it on a card, or several!. Try reading it to someone who is looking you in the eyes!. (not posible right now, you should right now go to sleep) You wont do much for yourself if you are exhausted!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
