Question: Was their any freewill in ROMEO and JULIET!?
I was wondering where freewill came into the picture!. I understand that it was destined for Romeo and Juliet to die to end the fued between their parents, but was their any choice in what they did!. Or was it all pre-determined!? If their is some freewill involved, and if so, may i have some examples!? maybe a line or two from the play!. Thanks :) your help is appreciatedWww@QuestionHome@Com

Hey there, I don't know if this is Homework or not!.!.!.so I'll kinda guide in a direction!.!.!.if its not tell the answers forum what its for and I'll put more down!.

Anywho!

I guess its all based in your definition of "Free Will" and what you mean by that!.

Do you mean "Did Romeo and Juliet have any choice in what happened to them in the story!? could they have prevented their death!?"

Freewill is a funny thing!.!.!.many of these characters however DO make the choices that end up leading to the end result of the play!.!.!.!.however, fate has nothing to do with freewill, fate (and destiny) are ususally only defined after the fact, unless there is a huge foreshadowing taking place within the text!. The prolouge is somewhat of a foreshadowing, it does tell the begining, middle, and end of the play!.!.!.but the Characters in the play Do not know what the outcome is going to be!.!.!.infact, they both think that the out come (ie their deaths) aren't going to happen at all!.

If you're looking for examples of free will look at many of the scenes with Tybalt or Mercutio, even when they're together!. They are some of the more tangeble and spesific choice making characters of the play!. They actually make decisions in the play (going to the capulet party, meeting with juliet, fighting/wanting to kill) that effect the outcoming of everyone else in the play!.

If you're defining free will as making their own choice, then yes they all have their own free will!.!.!.BUT! since destiny has choosen them to be the sacrifice for their parents hate!.!.!.they can't escape it!.

I don't know if you know the play Oedipus, or know who the character is, but look him up in regards to fate and free will, that may give you something else to reference in your homework/paper/mind!.

Good Luck!. Good Question!Www@QuestionHome@Com

silly question, the fate of all characters in all plays is determined by the author!. The author is the only one with freewill and then only while writing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
