Question: Has anyone seen Sweeny Todd on stage!?
My 14 yr!. old really wants to see this on stage, but didn't want to see the movie as she doesn't really like all the blood & gore!. She doesn't usually watch horror flicks, but does like the dark stuff!. Was the musical on stage toned down enough!? Any thoughts!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm pretty sure that red ribbons are used in place of blood in the stage version, though I haven't been priveleged to see it!. The music is fantastic, though, and the blood and gore isn't as prevalent in the stage version, so I'd see it if you have the chance!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The stage version isn't very bloody, at least not in most productions!.

One thing you should remember, stage productions don't have the same type of special effects that you do in the movies!. The movies can add special effects using computer technology or expensive effects that only have to be repeated a few time when filming!. Then the film can be shown to millions!.

Stage productions have to repeat the same effect successfully several times a week without fail!. The effects need to be simple, inexpensive and dependable!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have watched multiple stage and concert versions on YouTube, and performed in Sweeney Todd myself!.

I've seen red ribbons used, red paint, fake blood, and in some cases, there isn't any blood at all! I wouldn't consider the stage version terribly gory in that sense!. You don't have blood spurting or pouring everywhere like in the Burton film!.

And really, the stage version doesn't need it!. It's dark and creepy enough as is!. ;)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've seen it on the stage a few times!.

The productions I've seen haven't been very gory!.!.!.definitely not like what you see in the movie!. They had a little bit of blood spurting, and you see blood on their clothes!.

I guess it would depend on who is putting on the production, though!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It was almost thirty years ago - but I would have remembered
